My wife bought some Rit Dye--to a septic-conscious homeowner such as myself, that brought up a red flag. Can someone knowledgeable of septic systems tell me if that product is safe to use in the washer? I hesitate to use, as it contains anionic and nonionic surfactants (have no idea what those are, but they sound scary). Thanks!!

Rit dye in the septic system will dye the bacteria so if it needs to be looked at under a microscope they won't have to stain it.

Was that a pun, Rit dye bringing up a red flag?

It won't hurt a thing.
