installing tiled shower surround

walls are already insulated with Spintex rock wool batts with kraft paper

some of the kraft paper is damaged

i'm thinking of removing the paper completely and adding a separate moisture barrier.

i dont trust it on it's own

it would be improper to leave the paper and add another barrier, correct?

is 15lb felt better than plastic?

vice versa?

Chose either one. Before you do that, slice some slots in the insulation's kraft paper where it isn't already compromised to prevent a "moisture sandwich". Lap the bottom over the tiling flange. Stop the cbu about 1/4" from the tub ledge, or at the tub flange if it isn't recessed into notches in the studs. Check out www.johnbridge.com for tiling help.
