My washer is located in my basement. The water drains into a sump pump. Every winter, once the ground becomes frozen, so does the water in the pipe which runs underground outside. Therefore, the washer water cant drain until spring, when the ground thaws! Is there anything I can do to prevent or treat this?

getting a pump for the washer

If the other plumbing fixtures work, then I would figure out a way to pump the washer to those lines.

The fact that the washer drain is the only one that freezes would indicate that it is more than likely an illegal installation anyway.

Most hardware stores will call a small basin and pump that works fine for washers.
