I don't think it would matter. Not sure if I prefer the divertor near the valve or where you indicated. It might matter if you were to try to run both at the same time, but one at a time...not a problem.

In this scenario is there a preferable location to place the diverter valve so the water pressure can be optimized?
These are Jado valves and the Jado rep said that he didn't think it would matter as long as I kept the diverter at least 6" from the shower valve so their trim plates wouldn't interfere with each other.
