I hope someone can give me an idea here. This seems to be a big mess to me.

While replacing the tub drain it appears the PVC elbow fitting has broken off underneath the tub. At this point the metal drain just goes around in circles. Is there any hope of fixing this without taking out the entire tub? I know I'll have to cut out the drain but I'm not sure if I can reconnect with some type of PVC fitting.

Thanks, Hank

Is the tub on the first floor and do you have a basement?

Cass:

Unfortunately, it is on a slab. I live in South Florida.

Thanks, Hank

The only outside chance is if you could get into the other side of the wall. It would be tight, but you might be able to work a new waste/overflow assembly in from there. Otherwise, it's out with the tub.

Thanks for the information. I've considered that option and think it may work.

Thanks again.
