We think that our hot water heater thermostat has gone bad. The pilot light is lit, so we know that gas is coming thru. However the water is cold, and if we raise the temp, nothing happens, like the signal isn't getting sent to turn the heater coil on.
Is it hard to replace? Can we do it oursleves??
Thanks

state select brand
model PR6 50 POVT1
It isn't listed on their site, so I couldn't find any info.
Because we use propane, and we are not familiar with it, that adds a new twist

propane is fun

I would suggest that if it is a propane gas hot water heater

you might want to be careful..... finding the t stat is enough of a

problem in itself........ having to change it out is debateable

have you tried to change just the thermocoupling first?????

how old is this waer heater???

if it is more than 10 years old and it is propane

you might wnat to consider your options first.

t'stat

Open the drain valve on the bottom of the heater to see if that water is hot. If it is the thermostat is working properly, but your dip tube has fallen off inside the heater, or you have some other problem, but not a thermostat one.
