I am in the process of buying new bathroom faucets, shower valves, glass door hardware etc. and my wife wants to use Moen faucets with polished brass finishes. My contractor is hesitant about using polished brass because over the years he has noticed many pitted polish brass fixtures. Should I be concerned? Does the answer depend upon the manufacturer and the quality of its product? If so, what is Moen's reputation in this regard?

There is a "Limited lifetime warranty" to the original purchaser as long as you own your home. This applies to parts and finishes.

You need to be sure and be able to PROVE that YOU are the original purchaser.

Other manufacturers offer the same warranty. I would not accept anything less, and if your plumber buys the part, make sure that YOU are named on the invoice as the ORIGINAL purchaser from a legitimate dealer of the part.

Polished Brass used to be a problem.

That's changed within the last five years or so.
The composition has all changed and now they give it a long warranty for polished brass.
