No "one" answer. It depends on the ambient temperature, the proximity to the vent pipe, and the size of the trap, among other things. All you can depend on is that if water is not introduced into it periodically, it WILL all evaporate.

Good idea. Maybe use a drop of 7/16 inch as your standard.

Try one with 1/4 inch of vegetable oil on top, and one without.

Don't forget to check the humidity in the home.

I once was working on what had been a monastary.
On one wall they had twenty urinals, walled off, but not removed. The urinals hadn't been used in years. Some of this giant bathroom was still in use. The building had been converted over to drug rehab. I worked there for maybe two months installing fire protection to all the rooms. Walking into the room with all the unused urinals was pretty bad. I mean "really bad".

Yes humidity makes a lot of difference.

If you do not want it to evaporate as soon, just put a plug in it.

To many variables in your question.

But I would guess more than a week to as long as a month.

Please report your findings.

I'm sticking with stupid question.

I like them.

Looked like something I would post.

Keep up the good work.

Tom when are you going to fix your tag line ?

"No, plumbing ain't rocket science. Unlike rocket science, plumbing requires a license"

"/B" makes it work more better.

Temperature and humidity are two factors, but air circulation on BOTH sides of the trap seal is also a major consideration, which is why vegetable oil on the inlet side merely slows the evaporation process down.

I like the answers,
just think: free entertainment with no commercials,
but yes, it does vary, and thanks,
makes you wonder why houses dont have a giant P trap for the whole house a 4 inch one. do they exist ? ? my house is 5 ft off the ground plenty of room, harder on a slab.
but then I wonder why every house does not have a coarse filter on incoming water in the garage with a easily accessible ball valve to shut off water flow rather than i a dig in the front yard to find your shut off valve.

Of course they do. It is called a "whole house trap", and whenever I find one I dig it up and throw it away. Here we have smart plumbers so the shut off valves on above the ground at the building. What do you want to filter out? Fish?
