P1080409.jpgP1080408.jpgOK I let some air out of the pressure tank, it is at 28PSI with the tank empty did not help. I let the pump run until 38PSI then I turned on the sprinklers and the pressure slowly droped to around 29PSI took about 1 minute then the pressure dropped down to 10 PSI. It appears that the pressure is fine until the pressure tank runs out of water. I guess my next step is to pull out the injector and change the nozzle.

That ball valve to the left of the pump is supposed to be used as a backpressure regulator, and it is wide open. Try choking back on that ball valve and see if your jet can't build a little more pressure.

I will try choking back on the ball valve, will this help with the volume of water. When I tested the pressure was ok until the pressure tank ran out of water then the pressure dropped instantly to 10 psi. I could feel the tank when it ran out of water.

thanks, pete

You do not choke it down that much.

Just open your outlet Wide open and let it drop to the 10 PSI.

Then close the ball valve Very Slowly and watch your Pressure gauge, it will start to Flutter when the setting is correct, And the jet starts working.

Then you should see the pressure build.

The Higher output pressure that the Jet makes will overcome the ball valve being closed just a bit.

The Higher pressure will give you more water volume.

Valveman may have a better way of setting it.

Good Luck.

I tried to add back pressure by slowly closing the ball valve, the pressure did not go up until I had the ball valve 3/4 of the way closed. At that point the pressure went up to 30 PSI but the sprinklers were only spraying about two feet. The pressure tank was empty. I will pull the injector back out and change the nozzle from the #52 and install #51 with the #24 venture.

Did you let the tank refill and try it ?

You may be trying to run to many sprinkler heads for a 1/2 HP pump.

Does your sprinklers usage exceed 5 Gallons per minute ?

If your pump on switch setting is 30 psi, then you may have the same result even with a different jet, because it will still be dropping to 30 psi before the pump starts.

40/60 may work better for you to get more sprinkler range.

Good Luck.

If the pressure was reading 30 then you had the tank filled to 30 PSI. You maybe running too many sprinklers for the pump, but if it worked in the past, I still think the correct jet will solve the problem.

The sprinklers are low water use, there is 6 heads per valve each head is .65 GPM. the pressure drops off when the tank is empty.

But the tank has no water I can move it back and forth. I will change the jet and nozzle.

Problem solved, I pulled the jet and nozzle replaced it with the next size bigger. The pump now cuts out at 52psi and cuts in at 32 psi and with the sprinklers running pressure stays above 30 psi. The well is working great, thanks for all the help.
