This new WiFi Thermostat from NuHeat looks like the bomb in automated home integration. All of the primary features included with the added benefit of WiFi. I have used many of the products from NuHeat and have found all to be top shelf. I'm glad I made the switch a year ago to only installing their heating systems in my projects. I love the product. The heating wire the most and now with this new WiFi thermostat I think my clients number one choice will be clear.

From a design perspective the thermostat looks great. From a functioning perspective time will tell. I will pick up one of these and run the remote through it's paces in my own home for a proper user rating.

Until then - take a look at this new Thermostat!

  • WiFi - Easily connects to your home's WiFi network. 802.11 b/g/n compatible and a fully secure network WEP, WPA and WPA2
  • Screen - 3.5", 320x480 pixel color touchscreen
  • Remote Access - Control via free smartphone apps (iOS and Android) or a web browser
  • Programmable - 7-day programmability
  • Energy Usage - View hourly, weekly and monthly usage
  • Nuheat User Portal – Control multiple zones/rooms/homes via portal
  • Universally Compatible - Compatible with any electric floor heating system using a 10K Ω sensor
  • Easy to Use - Set-up wizard and test mode to ensure proper installation
  • Flooring - Suitable for tile and stone with a temperature limiting (82°F) feature for laminate and engineered wood floors
  • Custom Preferences - Set custom preferences ranging from languages (Eng/Fre/Spa), 12 or 24 hour clock, C° or F°, to screen brightness
  • Design Element - High gloss frame with a modern borderless clear acrylic overlay
  • Warranty - 3 years

Turns out after some mores reading that the WiFi thermostat is made by a company called OJ Electronics for NuHeat. Looks like OJ Electronics has been in the business of making thermostats since before I was born. A Danish company.

Looks nice until some hacker gets into your system and demands a ransom to turn your heat back on, LOL. it was nice of Google to buy the Nest thermostat and put their nose into your business. The internet connected front door locks for your home look interesting too, lol.

No Thanks.

Don - why would a hacker hack into them? Hmmm. You just made me think of something scary. A few years ago my wife got a news update from the North Vancouver Police saying that there was a Cat Burgular in the Neighborhood. The guy would break in all quiet like and then turn up the heat so everyone in the home fell into a deeper sleep and then he robbed the place...

I wonder if this new wifi home will open the doors to a higher end Cat Burgular???

Can Cat Burgular be that hard to spell... WTF - I need to go back to grade six

I sent an email off to NuHeat asking them if they have any safe guards to prevent hacking into their remote. I'll let you boys know what they write back. If only we knew someone that has a solid understanding of bowel movements in Turkey, how to fix stem joints and has completed two Schulter Workshops. Surely a man of this wisdom would have all the answers........ lol

Your thermostat knows when you are home or away. The server asks for your address. Why?

I have the Honeywell version of the Radio Thermostat CT-30. Just under US$100. No camera. Works fine.

The smartphone ap requires access to your location including GPS. I don't feel comfortable with that.

If a teenage kid in Russia can hack into Target, then it would be a piece of cake to mess with your thermostat. Nothing to gain money wise maybe, but maybe your fuel or energy supplier might be interested in making "corrections" to your environment. Or just for plain old fun.

If you want to hack into my Thermostat today - then you best be careful...

I'm home.

I have no WiFi Thermostat so you are going to have to break in and pop the cover off!!! Now my daughter's throwing knifes are just a few steps away.....

So be very quite......

hahaha kidding - NOT. hahaha

I was first; nya nyah.

Yes you won.

You have faster internet, and faster fingers. I bet your wife likes that.

You can go to the Hacker sites and learn how to hack them WiFi thermostats.

Just don't piss off your Hacker Neighbor, If you have one or, the heat will be on in the summer. And the Air in the winter, with frozen pipes.

Got to love technology.

I have very fast Internet connection, 59Mb/s down, 17 up, but I am not a hacker, and these days my fingers are not so fast:(. I do have an IP lawn sprinkler controller though which is a nice toy. If I see it acting weirdly next season, I'll suspect somebody here.

I normally do not do much hacking.

If I do, it is for the Good, testing networks and the like.

I can not wait for John to get his new T-Stat installed.
