Lately we've had problems with the water stopping if the washing machine is using both hot and cold water, of if you flush the toilet while running hot water in the bath tub. It sometimes will stop for a minute or more. I replaced the pressure switch and gauge, also made sure the air pressure in the bladder is 2 lbs below the cut on pressure. Even with the new pressure switch, it delays clicking on after the pressure drops below the cut on pressure. Once the pump cuts on, the pressure quickly rises and continues to rise 20 to 40 lbs above the cut off pressure, even tho the pump actually cuts off at the correct pressure. (I figure this is not uncommon tho.) I have a deep well submersion pump of unknown age, we have lived here for 15 yrs.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Try letting some air out. My guess is your air gauge is not reading the same as your water gauge resulting in too much precharge so that the bladder is bottoming out.

Will try cleaning out the 1/4" pipe to the switch, which I should have done when I replaced the pressure switch (but didn't.) I do know that the screen on the cold water line on the washing machine was almost clogged with grit and the problem actually started after I cleaned the screen.

Thanks to both of you for your replies!
