Is there such a product out there ?
The portable A/C or window A/C that I've known so far, will keep running the fan until a timer shuts them off, or until manually shut off. The only part that starts/shuts according to the thermostat setting is the compressor.
Are there any units that will shut themselves (and start themselves), including the fan, just like the central A/Cs do - according to the thermostat setting ?

Thanks.

There should be a setting on the fan control switch.

Turning off the fresh air setting may help.

What is your model ?

To answer your question, Yes there is.

I have a couple of window A/C , both are kenmore, thought I do not recall the models at this point. I'm sure they don't have any setting to stop the fan-by-thermostat.
I am in the market for buying a new portable one, 12000 BTU cooling, 5000+ heat, with the feature I presented above being a must.

Just look into the Star rated ones.

They even have a remote, in case your to lazy to get off of the couch.

I never understood a need for a remote control ? To turn the fan off ?

I guess most of the window units have the remote now a days, because they know most people are to lazy to get up.

Have Fun in your search.

Yes, I did, so far, no finds.
If you want one to keep heating the house, or keep it above a certain minimal temperature, just like a central A/C does. You really need a unit with full thermostat triggered on/off.

They are not made for that.

Get a central heating unit.

The small units are made for 1 room, not the whole house.

Yes, I am looking for a unit for our living room.
A central unit is out of the question, We don't have air ducts at home, nor the budget to add them.

You can buy a thermostat that plugs into a 120V outlet. It opens and closes the AC power to the unit.

Not sure if it will work for your unit, You provided no model number.

Is your unit 120 or 240V ?

Have Fun.
