I posted a few weeks ago but no one responded. Im really hoping someone can help before I make my final purchase. I need to replace my plastic bathtub made by AquaGlass (polystyrene material) that can't be fixed. Im limited to 60 x 30. My choices are 1) Kohler bellwether cast 2) Kohler archer acrylic 3) Americast (I forget the style). I read some bad reviews about Americast chipping easy so not sure about that. My other issue with the cast & Americast is the no-slip bottom. Heard they are horrible to clean & always look dirty. The Kohler website recommends a $50 cleaner for the bottom. I dont want that either. So Im leaning towards the Kohler archer acrylic. I was told by a repair company that acrylic can always be fixed easy...even if for some reason a hole was put in it. They said cast & Americast usually needs very extensive repairs if chipped. Do the acrylic tubs today last long? I dont want to have to replace it in 10-15 yrs. Any opinions ?

The Kohler Archer is 60x32x19
It is a nice tub.

Any of those tubs would be fine. I think the non-skid is nice if you intend to take showers in it.
Americast is fine for a tub too. I would not install for a kitchen sink though. And of course, Kohler cast iron is always good.

There are a million cast iron tubs being used every day, many of which are 50+ years old. With a Kohler cast iron tub, the most common reason it gets replaced is because our preference for colors has changed since the 50's and 60's.

I purchased an Aquatic Infinity 2.
I called Aquatic for the template for the Stone contractor,
while I was on the phone with Aquatic I asked if this was a drop in tub, as it certainly looks like one. They told me it was. I forwarded this information to the stone contractor. He cut the stone to Aquatic's template. The stone men and the plumber broke a piece of PVC plumbing on the tub trying to get it down into the hole in the stone. The tub won't drop into the opening. It's doesn't fit being lowered into the opening of Aquatic's template by a large margin. So I looked around on Aquatic's website. I found on the Aquatic website a technical bulletin for the Infinity 2 tub. It says this tub is not a drop in model, the tub deck must be built around the tub. I called Aquatic. I offered to pay for whatever has to be done to the stone, which will be very expensive if it has to be cut in half. All I asked from Aquatic was to pay their man to repair the tub plumbing.
I couldn't believe it, they refused. They said they didn't break it.
This tub costs a small fortune. I hope and pray I never have any other reason to have to deal with Aquatic again. I would strongly recommend against buying anything from Aquatic as their cannot be any worse customer service and absolutely no sense of responsibility.
