Default Bathroom Remodel - Shower Drain Issues

    Guys,

I need your help with a bathroom remodel.

I recently demo'd out an old tile shower in the master bathroom of my mother in laws house. She wants a tub/shower installed in the place of the old tile shower so I will need to move the drain closer to the wall. After uncovering the old drain pipe I realized that it turned pretty quickly so it is a tight install. Do you guys have any advice on what I can install here for such a tight installation?

    Thanks

The tub will need a waste and overflow, connected to a p-trap.

If there is no room on that side of the tub, you may need to plumb for other end.
Or, remove whatever pipe you need to reconfigure for the prefered location.
Those sections are installed using lead and oakum. It can be worked with. You can sometimes saw off a section and couple to it too. Most of the time, I'm removing a section and reusing the old hub.

I would try to clean out the cast iron hub that is at the edge of the concrete, where the arrow points from your “see other photo” caption is located. You may need to drill some of that lead out. Be carefull not to crack the cast iron. You could use a fernco donut.
