Hello,

I have an AO Smith model FPSH 40 261 water heater that was built in 2006. Recently the hot water has a strong rotton egg odor, cold water is fine. My first thought was to replace the anode rod but do not see one in the top. It does have a power vent installed and am wondering if it may be under that assy.? Also we are on softened well water, is this the right plan of attack to rectify this odor?

Thanks in advance,

Tim
