water heaters

around the midwest -- Indy-- the average
runs from about 750 to about 950.. or up to as high as they
want to quote..

it all depends on how much you desire to go out
and do something , or quote a job so high you that dont get it
because you feel its going to be trouble.

california is a whole other world compared to the midwest.

actually I think the last time we did 6 in a day was back in
2002.

This morning, I dont remember my back being
this sore back in 2002 either.

Looks like someone went to L*wes for a little DWV material. The cellular core pipe gives it away.

the best day of the year--- was the last day???

I installed 2 electric Rheem heaters
and one 50 gal brad white myself today
plus pumping out a crawl space....

the others installed a 40 gal rheem, and
2 50 gal brad whites....

so that is a total of 6.....

and I had to turn down about another
4 heaters today....and put off a few till wed...

This was actually the most work or our best day
for this whole dam year.....

does that mean that next year will be better,
or is just a "year end tease".

Just remember when you have good day someone else gets crap. There's only so much good luck to go around. Every time a tool breaks a demon gets his horns.

Of course don't think a butt load of experience doesn't play into that, as well as a well stocked truck.

Don't forget the tax man will come knocking soon, sorry to rain on your parade.

Not a solitary clue why, but once I get busy - I get real busy.
Last month was insane, I actually considered panning out some scheduled work..a week or two before I was worried I might have to start digging into reserve cash.
When it gets busy I take all the work I possibly can, because without question when it gets slow, it gets real slow.

Thats a good statement...

remings me of the one from "its a wonderful life"

"every time a bell rings , an angle gets his wings.."

My truck is well stocked, and those litttle demons
can throw all the crap they want to at me all day long,

I will win and they will lose...............

I have literally thousands of parts in my truck

with extra and extra fittings squrilled and tucked away in every
knook and cranney of my truck for that

"special moment".....when I start cussing and swearing..

I will usually turn up the part I need somewhere.......

and I usually can always improvise if necessary..somehow........

It sort of irritates me that it was New Years night or
I might have done another two heaters that I turned down today.

It apppears I have about 3 for Wednesday

then it will probably go back to the drought mode...

When you cant use a... NO HUB

When it is too tight to use a NO HUB you got to resort to
old school

I have not had to pour a lead joint in mid air in at least
25 years.....

Today I had to get out those tools to
install a new extension to the plumbing system .....

I thought that this would be a great tu-torial for
some apprentice plumber tha has never even seen it done before....

I had forgotten how nasty that is with the lead
spiillling all over everywhere..

pics will follow soon..

Dust????

I dont know what you are talking about...dust???

everything was rather nasty and smokey pulling out that old
oakum from the joint,,,, that took a while to pry and burn it out...

it had kind of an incense smell that
hovered in the basement for the rest of the afternoon....

I wonder if you were pouring a lead joint in California,
would OSHA make you wear a reaperator becasue of
the fumes from the lead????

I'm not real sure why you'd need lead to hook to the main only to use PVC and a Fernco. Most places, Ferncos aren't allowed indoors.

I use donuts. A lot easier and nobody gets hurt.
