I need to get the trim off my shower faucet. I called Kohler, and they say to twist the white part counter clockwise. I tried that and it won't budge. The brushed metal trim is firmly attached to the valve. I tried prying it off the wall, but it was obvious that it would not come off.
The trim is Kohler part number T12014-4 BN.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Yes, I did take the cap off, take out the screw, and remove the handle.
What I can't figure out is how to remove the round white plate that is covering up all of the screws holding the cartridge in place.
The manual says to turn it counterclockwise, but I can't get it to budge. That's my problem.
Spray some vinegar in there, let it soak for tweny minutes and then see if it doesn't budge.
When you spin the trim in the middle there is a circular piece with two grooves. The circular piece is the one you turn counterclockwise to remove the trim.
