What do the model numbers and letters mean on the Toto toilets? It's kind of hard to look at their website and distinguish between different models of, say, Drakes when they are mostly described the same.

All of the Drakes, which are G-Max will have S in the model number
You would be looking at the last letters.

E- Emax, 1.28 GPF
S- G-Max, 1.60 GPF
U- 1.0 GPF
C- Tornado Flush™ Flushing System
D- Insulated tank
B- Bolt down lid (I've never seen one, this would be to prevent vandalism)
L- ADA 16.5" high bowl
F- 16.125" high bowl
G- CEFIONTECT/CeFiONtect
R- Right hand tank lever(Used mainly for handicap stalls where the trip lever needs to be on the access side)
Most tanks come with left hand levers.

CST743S, 14.5" high regular bowl Drake
CST744S, 14.5" high elongated bowl Drake
CST744SL, 16.5" high ADA elongated bowl Drake

That answers that and some questions I didn't know to ask. Thanks.

What is the purpose of an insulated bowl?

Picture a hot humid day, a deep well, a flushed toilet. Big tank now filled with very cold water...on the inside and the outside (which drips all over the place)...

Three more questions:

Is there a difference between the Toto softclose toilet seats? The SS114 and the SS154 seem to be described the same.

Can I assume your price includes both the bowl and the tank? My local guy sells them separately.

Do you ship to Texas?

The parts of a toilets are sold separately.
I use model numbers for the complete toilet.

For example, a CST744S Drake two piece toilet would consist of a C744S bowl and a ST743S tank.

The print outs of my invoices always show what pieces the model consists of.

The main difference between the SS114 and the SS154 seat are the style, that and price. The book price on the SS154 is more.
There is also the SS204 seat that is similar in price to the SS154.

I don't ship in Texas. I used to sell some from Houston, but that hasn't been much of a source for me lately.

www.totousa.com
has a dealer locator on their web site.

I quit shipping years ago, I was one of the first shippers of Toto until the truck drivers convinced it wasn't worth it.

Every once in a while a mail order customer will try to get me to replace some other retailers broken shipments. They pretty much tell you they have a broken toilet to return, not in so many words, and can you come out with a good one so they can trade you for a broken one.
They don't say it that way, but you begin to get a feel for what what is going to happen based on their line of questioning.
