My vent pipe is very high.... about 7 feet tall.... to high to see if there is a nest or something that needs clearing near the top. Its of PVC.
Does it need to be so tall?
I am thinking of breaking a joint so I can access it.

A picture may help.
Get a garden hose in the pipe and turn it on. If water does not overflow out of it then it is either clear or you cleaned it out with the hose.
The only way ANYTHING could be in it, without falling to the bottom, would be if it were overhanging the sides, and you would be able to see that.
