Kitchen Faucet Replacement

Hello, we were looking to replace out old faucent, when the old one developeda pin hole. We had the counter top, sink, and faucet changed over 10 years ago by a contractor. Unfortunately there is a metal piece that is hindering us from removing the assembly. There den't seem to be any screws or nuts holding it in place but seems to be connected to the counter top. Any advice or insight to this issue would greatly be appreciated.

There is a small nut holding the clamp to the counter top.
It's too bad it presses against wood. Wood can compress, and the faucet gets looses.

We figured that there would be something as such. But there doesn't seem to be any way to access it from either the top or the bottom. The contractor might of installed it while installing the counter top making it difficult to make any replacements without removing the whole thing.

You can plainly see the nut in your photo.

A basin wrench might get it, or, if you have a deep socket on an extension, you could loosen the nut that way. You might get an open end or combination wrench on it to loosen it up. Once loosened a bit, you can probably spin the nut by hand to remove it.
