That picture, if we had had it in the first posting, would have been much clearer than her description. Of course there is no problem with that coupling since it is just a part of the vertical vent pipe.

When there is NO visual, I read the text EXACTLY as it is written assuming the words are used in the proper context. As far a Mr/Mrs once the string gets too long the any "sex of the originator" is long forgotten, and I have to rely on "who" might have had that experience. In this case I assumed by then that it was a female, because they are usually the ones who deal in the minutiae.

In a way, engineers are like plumbers -- there are a few really good ones, more that are just OK, and a lot that should probably be doing something else.
It's easy to pick on the idiots who design everyday things that are obviously just stupid -- but look inside your computer at the hundreds of parts that contain thousands, millions, or even billions of parts and imagine what it took for all those guys to figure out how put everything together cheaply and reliably...
