I have a 40 gal electric GE - Rheem heater. It is the 6 year one. I have had it for 6 years.
Our water causes corrosion.
Looking at the heater the outlet nipple is corroded between the top threads and threads on the copper flexible pipe. This may be causing a slight leak. It is not wet but a bit of corrosion is occurring.
Looking at both heating elements there is little corrosion coming out between the threads. This is not leaking.
The anode is not easy to get out. I was curious so I tried a socket and large breaker bar but not the next step of impact.
Should I:
1) not do anything
2) pull everything and replace parts as needed
3) do something between 1 and 2
4) buy a new heater
