Before I remodeled my basement and built my bar I had some rough in plumbing work done to accommodate a sink. The supply lines are PEX and terminate at a copper stub out. I'm trying to determine the best way to go from the stub outs to the faucet. In a previous post I had thought about connecting compression shut off valves at the stub out and then running a faucet supply line. The issue I've run into is that my local code calls for no more than 30" on the fixture branch pipe. It's a 60" counter with the sink in the middle and the stub out is on the left side of the cabinet meaning that I have 30" of travel just going left to right plus the upward rise in height to get up to the sink.
Ideas/Thoughts
- Sweat some copper right to the stub out, route it to the middle of the cabinet, install shut off valves, use standard size faucet supply. (I guess this would be my preference since I have lots of spare 1/2" copper around, but is it acceptable to sweat copper to my stub out without installing a shut off valve?)
- Run PEX from the stub out, install shut off valves, use standard size faucet supply.
- Ignore the code! Shut off valves at the stub out with a 48" faucet supply line.
