How would one of these stay fixed? Are they attached to the floor in any manner?... besides the drain of course. (Its acrylic, so fairly light)

Also, to install one of these, would I: have a hole ready in the floor, attach drain pipe to tub, then set tub in place- drain through hole, connect p-trap from below. Is there anything strange to be aware of or preparation one would need to make?

Thanks much!
Jason

My guess is the instructions call for caulking it around the base...if that's done, it should essentially 'glue' it in place. Have you searched the manufacturer's website for instructions?

Thanks. Yea looked for install notes. Its a whittington tub and all their site does is direct me to signature hdwre website. I imagine caulk is one of the only options, i'll see once its sitting on the tile what that looks like. Thanks again.

Did you ever consider using a galvanized metal oval horse trough? It might look a bit more rustic/old west but would be cheaper.

The problem is that the acrylic tub would probably break down from UV exposure out in the pasture...

I would say that is only true if you expected him to bathe out in a pasture. Or be in a Cialis commercial watching the sun go down.

Totally not important, but what I was thinking was... If he put the horse trough in the bathroom, then the acrylic bathtub would be needed out in the pasture for the horses to drink out of. I don't think that would be good, because the plastic would probably degrade.

Kohler uses this rough for their free standing tub valve.

And example of a tub valve rough and how they install, including plugs for the rough until the valve is set at finish.

I can't remember the brand of this valve that I installed or for the tub. On this one, the drain was on the wall side. Not an easy install at all.
The tub is very light, and the only thing keeping it from swiveling around is some clear caulking to the floor to kind of stick it in place. I pity the person that cleans behind the tub in the future.
