I would certainly start there.

ok first time post and I have read a good lot of the threads.
I have this installed about 19 months. all was working fine until i looked at it yesterday and there is now power on the screen. water has obviously not been softening for about a week as the salt level hasnt moved. I check under the sink at the 12v power supply is plugged in and hot.
there is a break connection that has been twisted together with electrical tape about a foot from the 12v plug ie 2 cables had been joined badly by the installer because he realised the wire was too short and needed to extend it.
could it be the problem is there ie the cables have shorted or is it amore serious problem.
I would certainly start there.
No, plumbing ain't rocket science. Unlike rocket science, plumbing requires a license!
ok apologies for the late update on this issue but it took months to sort with the original vendor of the system. eventually they stated the circuit board was blown and they replaced it with a new board that did the trick at no extra cost to me after a lot of haggling back and forth.
