Here's my nice new Hansgrohe shower valve. Notice the ugly gap between the back of the handle and the escutcheon. Anyone deal with this problem? I'm trading e-mails with Hansgrohe but it's uphill even to get them to understand that this is a design problem, not an installation problem.

The rough valve could only have been another 1/2" or so further back in the wall, or else the step in the chrome sleeve would end up behind the escutcheon seal. The problem is their design, which keeps the handle from fitting further over the valve assembly, no matter how the rough valve is set.
