Could be a whole bunch of reasons.

Undersized furnace for the load or furnace not fired at high enough rate to keep up with the loss
Plugged filter
Blower not running or not running fast enough
High limit set too low
Undersized duct or broken duct work
Insufficient return air
Bad or mis-adjusted thremostat

Are you gas or a heat pump? If heat pump, check the circuit breaker on the backup electric heaters.

What has changed recently? Did the heat use to work and now it doesn't? Anything new like a thermostat, air handler or furnace parts???
