Greetings,

When installing a whole house tankless water heater (electric, if it matters) do I need to take the cold water input directly off the meter or can I connect to any cold water pipe in the house?

Thanks!

YYou can pretty much take the cold feed from anywhere, but you'll get less pressure drop/higher flow if you run it direct to the meter with 3/4" line. But that may not be the limiting factor to hot water performance, particularly with an electric tankless, since high flow rates are out of the question due to the comparatively low heat-input capacity of an electric HW heater.

Hey, wait a minute.
