Default What is the best rain shower head?

Does anyone have any thoughts about specific rain shower heads that stand out for performance?

    Thanks.

    Dornbracht Rain Heads are outstanding.

The entire Dornbracht line is amazing.

Here is a shot of "Big Rain" in action

If you look at the picture below you will see one of our installs here in Vancouver. What's great about the fixture is that you can hook up two flow controls so you can have either the inside square on or the outside perimeter on. Or both! My client loves this option and while waiting for her conditioner to do it's thing keeps the outside perimeter falling. This keeps here warm and cozy and lets her hair not see any water.

The "best" one is the one you like best. Everyone wil have his, or her, "best" of anything, but it will be based on personal perference, NOT any hard facts. The next Dornbracht fitting I install, will be my first one, other than a couple I have repaired.

    Default The best rain shower

Some more pictures of my favourite rain head.

You can download a PDF file of the Dornbracht catalogue here -

Without starting a huge debate about proper installation procedures it is very important to know that these fixtures from Dornbracht are like mini engineering marvels. The craftsmanship is top shelf and the thought that goes into them very impressive. Most plumbers I've seen really have no clue and approach the install like roughing in a basic fixture.

The plumbers show up with no metric allen keys and remove the plastic rough ins. Often the packaging for the controls is thrown away and these are all mistakes.

If you splurge on luxury make sure your crew is set up with metric tools! Make sure the rough in kits are left in till after tiling! Make sure the Kerdi Flashings are used or replaced with ones from another supplier.

Our second to last shower project had a large rain head like this.

But I'm not sure the make.

Both my clients love it. This shower is hooked up to a Hansgrohe plumbing package.

Default Rain Heads with LED Lighting

I'm still trying to find this fixture.

I love the lighting built in.

Some of these new fixtures us the water pressure to generate the low voltage to power the lights.

Looks Italian or German to me!

FYI - I just brought home the Moen S6320 rain shower head and installed it in my existing shower and it seems to work like a charm. Even better, when you remove the restrictor gasket.
