Leaking Current Detection Interrupter http://www.appliancemagazine.com/new...ne=204&first=1
Today, window/wall air conditioners and some portable heaters come with a special plug with the test and reset buttons. The literature usually refers to this as an LCDI, which I take to mean something about leakage current.
Is this device a GFCI, and AFCI, or something different than either of those??

Thanks very much! Now, I have an interesting dilemma. I have a portable heater with something like that, but it is a 2-wire cord, not a 3 wire! I wonder what's up with that!
I'm not sure what your dilemma is? An AFCI, GFCI, or LCDI do not require a ground to operate.
Just another device to give you a false sense of security.
Theory only works perfect in a vacuum.
