If you use galvanized, you WILL be changing it some day, usually when you get a "slug" of brown water every time you turn the water on.

Hi all. I am installing new tub shower valve ( Delta) and was wondering if it is ok to use 1/2 gal. pipe from valve to drop ear , and the same for the tub spout nipple. The rest of the house will be pex. Id rather not use copper or brass(already have the gal.) Thanks Phil

The coating and threads on that galvanized nipple are not perfect and will rust someday. Why chance it - use a brass one now and never worry about it.

Also, you can't use PEX from the valve to the drop ear 90
The restriction forces water up and out of the shower head when filling the tub.
