No there shouldn't be any fittings between the shower drain and it's trap.It would be very tough to get a snake through all those fittings.

Is this shower trap setup within code or plumbing standards?It forms loop back to get the correct distance to a drain location for a 60"x 32" right hand tub replacment shower pan.It can't really be moved because it connects to the main from there which goes under a wall.
Thanks

Thanks John;
I took it out and and put a 'P' trap in and straight up to. I noticed that the trap is lower than the main line that it connects to. The trap refilled with water a couple hours after I replaced it. It must be flowing in from the main line.
