    I guess you didn't want to use caulk to seal the gap? If little boys are bad with their aim, you may have urine collect under there and no way to clean it. I would think a strip of peel-and-stick closed cell foam would work and IMHO a lot easier to apply.

    A common practice is to seal 3 sides, leaving a gap in the back. In your case, should there be a leak, chances are it would never stay on the surface but rather seep under the flooring.

    Hand finished eh? The pictures don't do it justice. I thought it was Pergo.

    Nice work. But I have seen a lot of wood floors in bathrooms, and never saw one last very long in good shape. Water and wood...not for me. To each his own.

    k*rdi strips as tile spacers is another use I have found. Save your old kerdi and recycle it.
