That should def be stronger... cutting out the middle is much better than the edge... will be interesting to see how it develops.

Wasted 10 minutes today looking for my torpedo level.

The new carpenter's pencil with the level should have a big brother with the level the other way. Even my "Chubby" wouldn't of help.

Would that be a "Strap On" for your your "Chubby"?

I did use my pocket square to level the trim.

Jake sent me a box of "Chubbies" with my order that are samples. Some are less than perfect but most are bang on. If any regular here wants a "Chubby" for Christmas I would be happy to send you one. Send me your address to info@byanydesign.com. I'll make sure you get a good one.

My daughter's love these pencils. They love the fact that two pencil's click together and the youngest has developed a spin technique where she can flick on pencil and it spins around. I showed my girls last night how a "Chubby" can stick to the wall (corner bead) and they thought it was magic. Then my eldest called me out on it. Right now the girls have their Carpenter's Pencils stuck to the walls beside their beds.

I asked them why they think they are called "Chubby's" and they said so matter of fact that "Because they are a fat pencil." Makes perfect sense to me. My youngest drew a rainbow and drew two lines at once - these pencils even save time for those in Kindergarden. LOL

I'm calling this protective sleeve a "Case offering needed damage obstruction from Mishandling" I think the Acronym is better. Drop the F and just call the case a C.O.N.D.O.M.

Building a fireplace feature in UBC yesterday.

Lots of chances to use my new Carpenter's Pencil and Level in one.

The first thing I do with my levels is check them for level!

I used the 9" "Chubby" to double check the center measurements of this Italian Marble. 4" on center it is. The grout joint looked tight but because of the eased edge will look like this finished bathroom floor.

A flush tile to hardwood installation.

I showed my "Chubby's" to a mason working down the street from me.

I asked to check his work and he laughed and said go ahead. I told him if his work passed inspection he could have the two "Chubbies".

Here is a look.

Of course I gave him the pencils.

You could built this with some string and a "Chubby".

"Looks good that way".

"Looks goof like that"

Now this is not level. The Electrcician could have used a "Chubby"

You must be like the project superintendent on a job years ago. I told him his floor elevation mark was wrong and he wanted to know what made me think so. I told him I measured it, so he took my ruler and measured it with his to make sure it was correct. THen he changed his floor mark.

HJ I always check and double check these things. We built a kitchen ceiling years ago and did so perfectly level - or perfectly out of level I should say. Learned the lesson the hard way that levels drop and can go out of wack. I stack them with every grading or framing job and make sure they are all leaning the same way.

I have a god supply of first generation Chubby's and a few second generation ones as well. How would you like to test a few out at work?
