I am planning to install PEX coils under the sub-floor and terminate them in different zone manifolds. The manifolds will be installed in the crawling space (one story house) little bit (say 14 inches) under the level of the coils.

The question is: am I going to have problems purging the air from the coils (somebody mentioned to me that it is difficult to do it). If so, what would be the right approach to this?

how about placing the manifold in an easily accessible (and above the coils) closet location? you can have an access panel to the inside of the wall and tamper with the manifold/bleed to your hearts content... :)
