Thread: Need to break vacum in water softener drain line

    The vacuum breaker is not necessary as stated by others. The vacuum breaker is actually creating back pressure on the softener valve when it is regenerating causing the NOISE you mentioned.

    Default Valve noise

    The noise was coming from the seat vibrating in the vacuum breaker...................

    someone said raise the water softener higher then the outlet......but that won't happen...........
