The Lincoln Movie

http://thelincolnmovie.com/

I enjoyed this movie. Lincoln seemed to be a story teller, much of the time getting his listeners to push the boundaries and think outside the box. Lot's of zingers in there too. It's nice to have an old time movie where the words matter.

Yes, I want to see that movie, too. But, did you read where, he dumped one woman he never met, because when he did finally, meet her, she was overweight? Only to marry, one a tadbit skinnier but, a whole lot mentally unstable? lol.

"I Am", the documentary

http://www.iamthedoc.com/

From the director of BRUCE ALMIGHTY, THE NUTTY PROFESSOR and ACE VENTURA: PET DETECTIVE comes something completely different.

I wound up seeing this on Netflicks. It's a little Einstein, a little about the field, and a little bit philosophy. Or maybe merging science and philosophy. Good exercise for the mind.

Delivery Man Movie from Dreamworks

http://www.dreamworksstudios.com/films/delivery-man

From DreamWorks Pictures comes “Delivery Man,”the story of affable underachiever David Wozniak (Vince Vaughn), whose mundane life gets twisted in a knot when he finds out that he fathered 533 children via sperm donations he made twenty years earlier.

I enjoyed this film. There were many times during the movie that made me misty eyed. It was not slapstick, but serious adult issues, a middle aged man growing with changes and accepting responsiblities.
I laughed, I cried, I cheered.
A feel good movie about how things can be.

Fire In The Blood, a much-needed critique of Big Pharma

IIn this much-needed critique of Big Pharma (narrated by William Hurt), activists and intellectuals expose how Western pharmaceutical companies, in pursuit of higher profits, systematically block access to life-saving AIDS drugs in the global south.

Since 1996, drug companies have abused patent laws to prohibit the sale of affordable generic drugs, leading to the unnecessary deaths of millions of people in developing countries. Fire in the Blood documents the inspiring work and impressive headway activist groups have made in the struggle against these corporate practices, and interviewees like Bill Clinton, Bishop Desmond Tutu and New York Times journalist Donald G. McNeil Jr. all share insights about the need to keep to fighting.

Trader Horn
1931, filmed in Africa

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0022495/?ref_=nm_ov_bio_lk1

Two white traders in the darkest Africa of the 1870s find a missionary's daughter, who was captured as a child by a savage tribe and now worshiped as a goddess.

The movie filmed in Africa was very raw in some respects. Unlike today's movies, this was filmed 83 years ago. What you see are real animals, crocs, and birds. The film crew met up with fifteen tribes and traveled thousands of miles during filming. The actress, Edwina Booth, after finishing the movie was sick for years. It's the last movie she ever made.

Harry Carey, the male lead was know for Mr Smith Goes to Washington, released in 1939

Duncan Renaldo later became known as the Cisco Kid in movies.

I never moved from this movie. But, I could never ever watch it twice because it is so unnerving I would need sedatives. :) Wow, it is based on fact and truth. What a life to live. The ending is incredible. This movie is NOT good for your health, I won't sleep tonite. It keeps you on the edge. It shows, their really is good in all people.

It is, The Pianist.

I believe "The Pianist" was directed by Roman Polanski. He's a pedophile and (rapist?) who sexually assaulted a 13 year old girl and is avoiding extradition to the USA by hiding in France.

I would not wish to patronize his works no matter how good they may be.

In Your Eyes
2014
Two seemingly unconnected souls from different corners of the United States make a telepathic bond that allows them to see, hear and feel the others experiences, creating a bond that apparently can't be broken.

I loved this movie. So different and compelling. Watch this with someone, you'll be glad you did. :)

This movie is on Netflicks. I've seen it three times now and still picking up new details.

Director Tom Shadyac speaks with intellectual and spiritual leaders about what's wrong with our world and how we can improve both it and the way we live in it.

A Walk In The Woods movie

In this comedy adventure, Robert Redford & Nick Nolte star as old friends who make the improbable decision to hike the 2,200–mile Appalachian Trail, and that’s when the fun begins. Based on Bill Bryson’s bestseller, the movie co-stars Emma Thompson, Mary Steenburgen, Nick Offerman and Kristen Schaal.

I had my laugh out loud moments in the film. Based on a book. Watching Nick Nolte and Robert Redford doing the trek was goofy and fun.

On The Basis Of Sex

http://www.focusfeatures.com/on-the-basis-of-sex

On the Basis of Sex is a 2018 American biographical legal drama film based on the life and early cases of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

I enjoyed going back in time with this one. The Harvard scenes were fun. I believe it was years later when my brother was there taking classes. I should ask him sometime what it was like there.

Also the movie reminded me of my mother and what she went through. Her father was district attorney and later superintendent of schools. My mother should have been valedictorian of her high school class, but they gave the honor to a boy instead. I grew up listening to my father, Judge Love and my mother discussing around the dinner table how to write laws and zoning for the city. And fifty years later I read in the local newspapers about those laws my parents came up with. Funny.
