Old rusty pipes, GRR!

Hey there,

So i was planning on replacing the tub and sheetrock around my old tub(house was built in mid 70's) and the tub itself. When i looked into where the drain/overflow meet the actual hole in the ground, i saw that the actual pipe that is in the concrete is rusted atleast 4-6 inches down and, i was wondering how i fix that? Im about to rip out the bathtub anyway so i dont know if theres anyway to actually chip out the concrete and make a new connection. I am almost certain that i will not be able to, because i already have a good 2-3 inches of space below the slad.

I recall seeing something about using some type of plastic pipe through your old pipes that way they dont have to re-run your pipes. Any help is appreciated!

are you referring to the drain? If so, who cares? I'd be more concerned about the source of the rust.

Well the rust is obviously from the water that has not been draining correctly. No telling how long its been like that.

Ill post a picture on how it is.




As you can see the drain is rotten deep below the foundation, and i need to make a new connection from the bathtub drain to the drain INCASED in concrete. But if the pipe incased in concrete is rotting, how can that be fixed?
