    Can anyone give me information of defrost thermostat...

    What is it's purpose and applications?

    A timer usually initiates the defrost cycle. The defrost thermostat prevents the "heater" from overheating, but if the thermostat is defective it could prevent the defrost heater from working, or overheat which could create a fire hazard..
