The strips may be fine or you can get a kit at your local Pet Store and
Tests for general hardness (GH) and carbonate hardness (KH) , used for fish aquariums.

This may even be better, water analysis testing and determine the chlorine, chloramine, iron, nitrates, hardness, and ph levels in your household water;

The TDS meter would be nice to have, but not for testing hardness. The TDS meter is for testing drinking water.
