Replaced pressure switch still no water from well

Hello everyone,
I have a well with a submerged pump replaced about 9 years ago. The water stopped completely yesterday and have been troubleshooting. I took off the old pressure switch and replaced it with a new identical switch; the Flotech 30/50. The old switch was completely blocked up with sediment including the copper pipe that it was attached too. I removed the sediment in the pipe and installed the new switch. Still no water. The tank pressure gauge indicates 18 psi but could be broken as I added air into the tank to 28 psi. The psi gauge on the tank though still reads 18psi. The gauge also has water trapped behind the lens (half full). I also drained out the pressure tank of any water. Any thoughts what I should do next? Do I need to prime the pressure tank somehow? I'm at a loss. TIA

update: I installed another pressure gauge and it reads zero even though there is 28 psi in the pressure tank.

If you don't have the means to measure voltage, current, and resistance, you should probably call a well pump specialist for assistance.

Thanks for the reply... I did measure voltage etc and switch has juice. What would you guys recommend next?

When the line to a pressure switch clogs up, the pump can’t shut off as it should. If the pump runs for about 5 minutes without pumping any water, the pump and/or motor is toast. My guess is the impellers are melted down, the motor is locked up, or both. Probably time for a new pump.

Thanks Valveman. I've done as much as I could without success. I called in some pros who are going to find out what the problem is today. Will have an update soon.

You know there is voltage at the switch. Did you check to see that the switch is closed and that the voltage is making it out to the well?
