Probably run around 750 or so. coils are expensive. Far better off to get an indirect. Unlimited hot water and a big reduction in your oil or gas bill.

Does anyone know what a fair price is for replacing the hot water coil in my Series 8 Smith boiler?

Tom I was quoted $2500 for materials and labor for a stand alone hot water heater, that seems like a lot of money what do you think. Plus now I have another piece of equipment that is going to need repairs. I would have to run it by electric seeing gas is not and option. That means running a new outlet, having a higher electric bill by how much I don't know. How many years before it turn profitable?
Patrick
An indirect uses the boiler as the heat source and it usually treated as a separate zone. The indirects are generally very low maintenance...maybe replace the circulator, but that could take many many years before it wears out.
