Anyone know what this is? Rotameter

This is located on the feed line to our open-loop geo-thermal unit. It looks like it is supposed to have a float in it, possibly to show flow rate or something?

Anyway, it look like it's not working, and it's also leaking. Need to know:

1 - Do I need to replace it, or can I just eliminate it?
2 - If I need to replace, any idea where I can get a replacement?

Anyone know of a good plumber in the Baltimore, MD area?

I measures flow and yes, it does need replacing.

It looks like it could be an aspirator, but would have to see what is below the picture you took.

Below this is just a 'T' one side goes to main house line and the other goes into this, and then on to the geo-thermal unit.
