I belong to the Eastside Skiing and Boarding Meetup group. A few of us are participating in "GS" Giant Slalom ski racing; a red and a blue course and the winner adds points to their teams total. The first day out was qualifying to see where you would race in the lineup. That way, the ones that are smoking fast race against others that are fast. Me being friggin old, more like toward the back. These first pictures are from a Tuesday night at Alpental Snoqualmie Summit on the 18th of January 2011. City League

By the way, this is night skiing after work. For those of you from other parts of the country, this is 45 minutes from the Eastside and 55 minutes from Seattle. Kind of cool when you think about it.

This is Valerie on the team. She's a hot shot.

This is Rick, the fastest guy on the team. He's logged so many miles on snow it's hard to even keep him in sight.

Looks too dangerous to me.

No lights. No permit. Cloth caps.

No doubt moonshine as well.

It'll be donuts in a supermarket carpark next.

That was all clearly out of bounds and on closed areas with active avalanche testing.

We need urgent Federal regulation to stop this.

You would never ski like that in Washington D.C.

Ian, around here it's called "night skiing". Better then watching television. Of course if skis are too fast, you can always snowshoe. A friend of mine just called me tonight about doing that with me. That's what happens when people know that you have an extra set I guess.
I've been to DC though, it's flat as a pancake. I did notice that it flooded at on time. You can see the high water mark on the Washington Monument.
Ha! Just kidding. My brother tried that one on my while I was there.

Hey Terry you must ski like a bat out of hell....
Your video shows Valerie leaving the gate and disappearing down the mountain and then it shows her crossing the finish line...
Damn that's some fast skiing... I thought you said you were slow on the boards...

Terry Love
This is the old one, I can't believe I'm racing this year. I'm so slow, they give me boarders to race, at least I can beat them.
