Hello,

I have a Trane XL80 furnace with a 2 stage gas burner...The gas valve information is on the inside and I can't read what the resistance from the thermostat should be set at. Mine is set right now at .5 and I find my furnace is cycling very often. It is an older horizontal stat with a mercury bulb.

What is the proper resistance?

If I decide to change my stat out...should it be digital, programmable, or does it matter?

With a 2 stage gas valve on a 80% eff. furnace...is there a particular type of T-stat I should get or something I should stay away from?

Thanks for all replies.
