Shower Valve Help

Hi, I just installed a new bathroom during a remodel of my house. When turning on the tub, the water comes out of the shower but not the tub spout. please help!

i'm not a plumber, but did you install the valve upside down?

No, I just checked and it is installed right side up.

What type of water diverter do you have? (That diverts the water from the tub to the shower) Built into the faucet or separate on the tile wall?

Built into the faucet.

Unless it is pushed in and stuck, it should NOT be able to prevent flow to the spout.

I took the tub spout out and left just the nipple and still no water. I'm baffled

What brand and model of valve is it?

As stated elsewhere, if ABSOLUTELY NO water comes out of the spout, you have such an unusual situation that we cannot come up with ANY possibility that makes sense without being there ourselves.
