Inspector tells me that all waste lines installed in an open parking garage need insulation & heat trace. We only traced the exposed traps from bathrooms above. Is this correct? I never heard of insulated drains in a parking garage.

Sounds a little flakey to require insulation downstream or the traps.

At least he didn't say they required only insulation. Insulation would be useless without heat tracing.

A properly laid drain should never have standing water in it, so insulating doesn't make sense to me.
