I do volunteer work at our church. The facility is 50+ years old and one of two hose bibs has damaged threads. The logical thing would be to just replace the whole sillcock, but the basement ceiling is sheet rocked and taped PLUS their is a 24" wide hvac duct right below the sillcock.
I've tried to find a die to see if I can clean up the threads, but haven't been able to find the right size. Do they make one (surely they do) and would they only be available from a plumbing supply? So far I've checked Home Depot, Lowes and Harbor Freight Tools all to no avail.
I haave NEVER seen a hose thread die. Usually when the threads are damaged it is because someone forced a backflow preventer from the thread and "scraped" the threads off, so there is nothing to rethread, even if you could find a die.
