We have a problem with roots growing into our sewer line. Every couple of years we need to get it snaked out in order to prevent a sewer backup. I have been told that repeated use of a snake can cause damage to the pipe and an eel would be a better option. How does an eel work and is this true?

Ask someone to grab hold of your foot and give your leg a sharp tug. This would be the eel.

NOt even sure what they mean by an eel. But unless the pipe is already in need of replacement, snaking it will not cause any harm, and with the proper cutter will remove the roots out to the circumference of the pipe. I do not usually recommend replacing the sewer until it requires snaking more than once a year.
