Hello,
I was wondering if there were any gas tank water heaters out there folks consider a good mix of price/performance. I'm currently building a 2.5 bath home, with a 55 gallon whirlpool tub. 4-5 people. Gas is cheap where I live ($1.00/therm), and I was looking at the .7EF Effex models from AO smith. I was wondering if anyone had similar models that they would recommend.

Edit: It looks like the price difference between the .62 Models and .70 models is too great. The ROI, from what I can tell is over 20 years. I can get a Bradford White .62 model for over $400 less. That's a lot of years before the .70 AOS would be worth it. I'm just gonna pull the trigger and be done with it.

The water heater brands most often recommended are Bradford White and GE/Rheem. Bradford White is supposed to sold only to plumbers, but I get the impression that some supply houses don't follow that rule too closely. AO Smith is not a preferred heater. Most of all avoid the Whirlpool.
